Russian as a Second Language

(8–12 year old), Saturdays, time TBD

Victoria Russian School invites school age kids (8–12 year old) with no prior knowledge of Russian to learn Russian as a Second Language.

The primary goal of the course is to form and develop four language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing, and help students apply the acquired skills in everyday communication. Children will learn basic Russian vocabulary and grammar. Reading is based on adapted materials with attention to pronunciation, sound, word, and sentence formation.
Students are encouraged to complete various home assignments regularly. In class children will learn through communication, imitation and play in positive supportive environment.

The course also gives an introduction to traditional Russian folklore – rhymes and fairytales which help children to form better understanding of Russian culture.
